The New Executive

At the last IAMLearn AGM, hosted at the Mlearn 2017 conference. A new President, Secretary and Member at Large were voted in. In addition to these roles, there was the additional role of Communications Manager added to the team.

We also sadly had to say goodbye to two of our most valuable committee members, who have stepped down this year. We would like to thank outgoing exco member Jocelyn Wishart, who has been our IAMLearn secretary for many years and who is now retiring. We wish her well in her retirement and thank her for all the support she has given to the organisations over these years. In addition, Agnieszka Palalas, our past president, has also stepped down to focus on new adventures. However, we will not be saying goodbye to her just yet, as she is staying on exec as Past President to help streamline the handover process for our new president.

The following are our latest additions to the exec committee:

Secretary: Linda Van Ryneveld

President’s Letter

Dear IAmLearn members,

I am truly honored to be writing my first letter as President of the International Association for Mobile Learning. I have been happy to serve as a Member-at-Large on the Executive Committee since 2013, and I am humbled that you have elected me to serve as President at our AGM at mLearn 2017 in Larnaca, Cyprus.

During my time with IAmLearn, I have had the privilege of participating in a number of exciting activities, including organizing mLearn 2013, interviewing leading mobile learning researchers and practitioners for the Summer 2016 Teaching and Learning with Mobile Technologies Vodcast Series, and co-editing IAmLearn’s first open access eBook. I am extremely excited by the prospects for 2018, and the projects that my teammates on the IAmLearn Executive Committee are initiating so that we can continue to make a positive contribution for our membership in the years ahead.

Now that the holidays are upon us, and 2018 is set to begin, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members for making 2017 such a huge success. I hope to see you all again in the near future – whether at one of the online events we are planning, at an upcoming event, or, hopefully, at mLearn 2018 in Chicago!

All the best,
Rob Power, EdD
President, IAmLearn
